Yaz Lawsuit – Compensation May Be Available

Yaz is a birth control pill that quickly became the most popular oral contraceptive pill in the U.S., after its launch. Yaz, just like every contraceptive pill, has its side-effects but with Yaz the side effects and risks of serious clotting events were doubled. No hormonal birth control pill is devoid of side effects on the body. However, the side effects and increased risk of DVT, PE, stroke and death are disproportionate for this product.

The Yaz contraceptive pill comes under the category of medicines used for hormonal contraception and is administered orally. The pill contains two active components drospirenone and ethinylestradiol. Ethinylestradiol is an artificial version of estrogen and drospirenone is an artificial version of progesterone. The drospirenone has been the culprit here.

Mentioned below are the possible side effects of Yaz that are minor ones and are commonly associated with birth control pills:

  • Irregularity in menstrual cycle
  • headaches/dizziness
  • nervousness
  • water retention
  • weight gain
  • breast pain, tenderness, or swelling
  • diarrhea
  • nausea and vomiting
  • abdominal cramping or bloating

Some more severe and serious side effects of yaz and yasmin have been discussed below. Consult your doctor for immediate medical attention if any of these problems show up:

Irregularity in your bleeding pattern during menstrual cycle as:

  • spotting between periods
  • breakthrough bleeding
  • stoppage of menstruation for several months continuously
  • occasional stopping of bleeding
  • excessive bleeding during menstrual cycle
  • minimal bleeding during menstrual cycle

Other conditions under which immediate medical attention should be sought include:

  • high blood pressure
  • coughing up blood, sudden cough, fast breathing
  • experiencing swelling of ankles and feet which may be signs of a deep vein thrombosis
  • symptoms of a liver malfunctioning (e.g., yellow eyes or skin, abdominal pain, or itchy skin, dark urine)
  • headaches such as migraine – which may be warning of a stroke

Due to the serious side effects, that include blindness or even death in the most severe cases, many women throughout the nation have filed a yaz lawsuit against the manufacturer of this contraceptive. The FDA has also issue warnings to Bayer pharmaceutical for not publishing adequate information regarding the harmful side effects of this birth control pill.

Yaz, Yasmin, Ocella, Beyaz, Gianvi and Syeda are not recommended for women who have various health conditions. Some of those are:

  • Women who are allergic to any of the ingredients included in Yaz like ethinylestradiol, drospirenone and other additives
  • A woman who is experiencing active lever disease
  • Symptoms of allergic reaction such as difficulty in breathing, swelling of throat, hives
  • Someone experiencing heart complications, especially heart attack
  • Women suffering from migraines
  • Women suffering from eye related problems such as reduced vision
  • Smoking may increase the risk of a blood clot
  • Women who have other blood clot risks or have had a prior stroke, PE, DVT, or heart attack

If you are one of the women who have suffered any type of physical injury or side effect after taking yaz, then speak with a Yaz lawyer about filing a Yaz lawsuit.
